Lead Pastor Search Profile

Redwood Park exists to be a church in Thunder Bay where “Everyone’s Welcome, Nobody’s Perfect and Anything’s Possible”. We value inclusive environments, excellence, caring communities, imperfect people, taking risks and radical generosity in becoming fully alive followers of Jesus.

The city of Thunder Bay is an amazing place of easy access to the outdoors, offering a vibrant cultural and entertainment mosaic. It is a largely unchurched city of 110 000 people and serves as a central hub in remote Northwestern Ontario with a surrounding population of 150 000 in the region, including a large Indigenous population. There is also large transitional population of people such as those who live here but work in the more remote Northwest, seasonal University/College students and staff, and others who are here temporarily for medical treatment or employment at our regional hospital. It is a city with a fascinating history and plenty of adventure.

Redwood Park is a diverse community that supports a Sunday attendance of approximately 700, where we are intentional in building relationships with people far from God and aim to be attractive in how we engage with people in our services.

This has meant taking a pragmatic approach to ministry and adjusting the way we do church from simply meeting the needs of those who already believe to providing an inclusive, non-threatening, and accepting environment. People are given the opportunity to hear the Gospel in a variety of doctrinally sound, contextually relevant and creative styles that are empowered by the dynamic presence of the Holy Spirit. There is a willingness to sacrifice comfortable evangelical traditions to prioritize the needs of those who are apart from Christ.

Further, we value Christ-centred caring communities where authentic relationships can thrive. We encourage connection with a variety of courses, support groups, and small groups, as well as mentoring relationships and spiritual friendships. We are striving to create environments where people are safe to be real, encouraged on their spiritual journey, and challenged to extend the kingdom of God.

We are seeking a visionary leader who will join our adventure and build on our vision, mentor and equip a dynamic staff team and congregation to grow deeper in love with God, and mobilize them towards living out our mission.
